From Tullygrawley School: Creativity in a country classroom
Opens- 13 May
Closes- 31 July

Venue: Gallery, Museum & Civic Centre Carrickfergus

This exhibition showcases the remarkable artistic results that R.L. Russell headmaster of Tullygrawly School, near Ballymena, obtained from his pupils in the 1930s and 1940s. His pioneering methods and philosophy was the subject of much interest at the time, particularly following the publication of his book 'The Child and his Pencil'. The exhibition includes 28 framed examples of the children's work.


Orange Historical Exhibition
Saturday 12 June
Time: 9am - 5pm
Venue: Carrickfergus Museum & Civic Centre, Carrickfergus

An exhibition of the Loyal Orders will be on display including a large number of items of historical interest.
Organised by Lagan Valley Orange Historical Society.


Schomberg Band
Saturday 12 June
Time: 11.15am - 12pm
Venue: Market Place, Carrickfergus

Live Music With Nae Goats Toe
Saturday 12 June
Time: 12pm - 4pm
Venue: Castle Green, Carrickfergus

Don't miss Willie Drennan and the rest of Nae Goats Toe as they help to entertain the crowds before and after the historical landing of
William! Also will include a broad range of family entertainment and Scottish dancers!

 

Re-Enactment of the Historical Landing of William
Saturday 12 June
Time: 12.45pm (landing at 1pm approx)
Venue: Quay Lane and Castle Green, Carrickfergus

This will take place and can be viewed from Quay Lane and Castle Green (weather permitting). Watch out for North Irish Dragoon's horsemen in period costume who will also be entertaining the crowds. Immediately following the landing, the main parade will take place, weaving its way through Carrickfergus Town Centre along the route traditionally followed by William. The parade will return again at approximately 4pm.

 

Pageant Sunday
Sunday 13 June
Time: 2pm - 5pm
Venue: Castle Green, Carrickfergus

Come and enjoy the well-established Pageant Sunday entertainment on Castle Green with live music courtesy of Nae Goats Toe and many other attractions including falconry displays and 'have a go archery' courtesy of the Traditional Archery Society of Ireland, demonstrating at first hand some of the historical weaponry of the period.


Sunday 6 June
Carrickfergus 10k Road Race

This 10k road race is organised by local Athletics Club Seapark and sponsored by Carrickfergus Borough Council. The planned route begins at the Castle car park and takes runners up through Troopers Lane, along the scenic top road and back down the North Road. Break out your running shoes to take part or come along and lend your support.
Time- 2pm

Carrickfergus Pageant Weekend
11th & 13th June

Venue: Castle Green, Harbour & Town Centre, Carrickfergus.
This colourful annual Pageant explores Carrickfergus' unique cultural history and features historical re-enactment, exhibitions, fireworks, family and live musical entertainment.

Armed Forces Day 2010
21-27th June

Venue: Various.
A number of special events are being organised to celebrate Armed Forces Day to be staged in Carrickfergus and the largest event of its kind in Northern Ireland.
