BIG Energy Saving Challenge - could you be a winner?

This is a fantastic opportunity to be in with a chance of getting your hands on some of the whopping £100,000 which can go towards energy saving measures in your homes or in a community building.
NIE Energy has launched their BIG Energy Saving Challenge giving away over £100k to communities or groups of householders who come together to save energy. The BIG Energy Saving Challenge roadshow will be visiting towns across Northern Ireland, including Carrickfergus to encourage communities to enter the challenge.
The NIE Energy BIG Energy Saving Challenge is open to everyone in Northern Ireland by simply applying online to be one of six lucky groups to be given £7,500 to spend on energy saving activities.
Who Can Apply?
Any group of people within Northern Ireland can apply to participate in The BIG Energy Saving Challenge. Each group must consist of a minimum of 20 households. A group can be defined as any persons who are associated by location, interests, goals or ownership.
Groups will be selected based on:
Their action plan for reducing their energy usage;
The group’s ability to demonstrate how they will use NIE Energy products and services to help them become more energy efficient;
How the group will use the prize money at each stage for energy saving measures;
How the group will include and involve all members of the group during the course of the competition;
Any previous experience in organising an energy saving project (or any community based project).

Groups of like minded people have until the 31st March 2011 to apply for the Challenge. Throughout this year, NIE Energy will assist and monitor them through their energy saving journey and they will also be measured on how much they spread the energy saving techniques throughout their wider community. At the end of the year long challenge they will each receive another £7,500 for more improvements in their homes and their communities but the overall winning group wins a fantastic total of £20,000!
At every stage of the competition NIE Energy will be profiling the six competing teams and is keen to have a wide spread, representing all corners of Northern Ireland.
