Councillor John Stewart

John Stewart was elected to the Knockagh Ward of Carrickfergus Borough Council in May 2011 and is currently one of four Ulster Unionist Councillors.
He attended Carrickfergus Model Primary and Carrickfergus Grammar School before graduating with a BA Hons in History from Cardiff University in 2004. He has a passion for history, archaeology and politics and is currently writing a book profiling members of the armed forces from Carrickfergus Borough who served in the two World Wars.
John currently sits as Vice Chairman of the Chief Executives Office for the year 2011-2012 as well a member of 11 of the Council’s sub committees. He takes a keen interest in business related bodies and currently sits as a Director of Carrickfergus Development Company and Carrickfergus Enterprise NI as well as a member of Carrickfergus Chamber of Commerce and the Can Peace 111 European funding group.
John is a supporter of Northern Ireland and Tottenham Hotspur and is closely associated with many of the local sports and social clubs.
