Roy continues as a member of the District Policing Partnership and of Greenisland Community Police Liaison Committee. He is also a Member of the NI Assembly and is currently the vice-chairman of the Public Accounts Committee and a member of the Environment Committee.
Roy is the Treasurer of the local Road Safety Committee and of the Carrickfergus Neighbourhood Development Group. He is also a member of Carrickfergus Children and Young People's Locality group and of Horizon SureStart.
Roy is a committee member of Raloo Presbyterian Church and remains an Officer in the Boy's Brigade. He is married to Sandra and they have 3 teenage children. In his spare time he assists on his parents' farm and enjoys walking and cycling.
