Married his wife Sandra is an active member of the Alliance Party in East Antrim and she assists Stewart with constituency enquiries.

Stewart is employed as a Senior Employment Relations Manager in the Labour Relations Agency where his is a nationally trained workplace mediator and Arbitration Secretary.

Stewart is an active NIPSA trade union member.

A strong representative voice for the community, Stewart Dickson has been a member of Carrickfergus Borough Council for nearly 30 years, together with Sean Neeson and Isobel Day he represents constituents from all over the Borough and wider afield.

Stewart is a leading voice of the people on welfare rights, planning issues, environmental matters, open spaces, improved roads and public transport; he is a passionate campaigner for the introduction of third party rights of appeal in planning decisions. He is particularly proud of his participation in the campaign to save the green belt around Greenisland.

A long time Trade Union activist and an Alliance Party member since its inception Stewart has taken the lead in anti-sectarian campaigns in the workplace and the community, working with such groups as Counteract, NIC –ICTU and the Peace People.

Stewart and Sandra are members of Greenisland Presbyterian Church and Stewart is an Elder in the congregation.

A local youth leader Stewart has been involved with 1st Greenisland BB Company as Captain and an officer, over the years he has been involved with Greenisland Knockagh Youth Club, and school boards of Governors in Silverstream Greenisland, Woodlawn, and Central Primary Carrickfergus. He is also has an interest in a wide range of community and other groups throughout the Borough.

Stewart runs a successful drug awareness project in the Boys’ Brigade locally and is determined to see young people freed from the scourge of drugs.

Stewart is currently Chair of Carrickfergus District Policing Partnership a role he find interesting and challenging in representing the citizens of Carrickfergus in policing matters and also presiding over open public meetings to which all citizens are welcome.

Stewart has a wide knowledge of the area he represents and its needs; he has a proven concern for all who live here.

Stewart Dickson is a Winston Churchill Fellow.
