Carrickfergus Borough Council - Corporate Plan

Corporate Plan

The cornerstone of Carrickfergus Council is the delivery of public services. This is encapsulated within the Council's Mission Statement, which states that:

"Carrickfergus Borough Council is to develop and maintain a sustainable quality environment which will enhance civic pride through the provision of efficient and effective public services at a reasonable cost."

The Council adopts a policy of complete openness and accountability to the public at all times. Our aim is to constantly improve our service delivery and this is achieved by following a set of key principles which, through public consultation & resultant action, can successfully streamline the council to offer faster, more cost-effective services to the public it serves.

Strong civic leadership is the lynch pin that binds the Borough together and that drives it forward to meet the opportunities and challenges of the future. Carrickfergus Borough Council has a clear vision for the future of the region, as set out within its Corporate Plan. This Plan integrates four key themes that are crucial to the long term development and well being of the Borough and its residents.

These are:

Citizenship - building on the civic pride that we enjoy within the Borough
Social Progress - seeking to promote co-operation between Council and those involved in community activities
Economy - addressing the needs of our business community
Environment - ensuring that we all enjoy the benefits of a clean, healthy lifestyle

Although the Plan was originally intended to cover the period 2005 - 2009, Council have made the decision to extend the life of the Plan to 2011 due to the impending Review of Public Administration. The Plan and the most up to date Business Plan can be accessed here.
